ABOUT YUSER
Yuser Fatena Born 1996, Resides and works in Istanbul, TR
Yuser Fatena is a contemporary artist and architect. He is best known for figurative oil paintings incorporating monoprint and acrylic, where human figures exist within unstable spaces. His work explores the tension between physical space and emotional weight, focusing on the effort of staying grounded in environments that push back. Mental and emotional balance appears temporary rather than fixed, as figures and structures strain to hold their position while their surroundings continue to shift.
Trained in architecture, Fatena holds a BA in Architecture and Design from Istanbul Bilgi University. His early studies centered on urban space, structure, and human-scale dynamics, but over time his focus narrowed toward what he considers the unresolved core of that education, the lived human experience. Painting became the medium through which this tension could be addressed directly, without the constraints of functional resolution. Fatena approaches painting as a physical act of construction and wearing away rather than a purely visual exercise. Working primarily with oil, acrylic, and monoprint, with the Canvas’s history in mind, he allows earlier decisions to remain visible. Marks of hesitation, pressure, and correction are preserved, forming surfaces that record their own making and reflect the instability embedded in the subject matter. Since 2021, Fatena has worked independently as a full-time artist. His works are held in private collections in the United States, Greece, Poland, and internationally.
